Welcome to the Educational Projects section of my portfolio, showcasing work from my M.Ed. program that highlights my expertise in instructional design and the application of learning technologies, all grounded in adult learning principles.
At Western Governors University, only two percent of projects receive the WGU Academic Excellence Award, and I am proud to share that three of my projects received this honor.
In this course, I developed an e-learning solution tailored for adult learners, adhering to all Open SUNY Course Quality Review (OSCQR) standards. My project featured a user-friendly mockup, showcasing competencies in solution recommendation, e-learning design, and impact assessment. I demonstrated skills in simplifying complex ideas, employing evidence-based processes, and analyzing training solutions.
"This submission on creating a presentation using PowerPoint was excellent because the student created an exemplary mock-up that included all the OSCQR standards. The presentation was crafted in an easy-to-navigate and visually appealing format, effectively engaging viewers while ensuring clarity and adherence to instructional design principles."
For this project, I conducted a comprehensive learner analysis to empathize with adult participants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and content familiarity. By evaluating cultural, intellectual, personal, and social-emotional aspects, I created detailed learner personas that guided strategic design decisions, ensuring inclusivity and relevance. This analysis defined critical learner needs, framed a clear instructional problem, and demonstrated my expertise in audience analysis and learner-centered design principles.
"Your project showcased a deep understanding of learners' perspectives through empathy mapping and persona development. You demonstrated exceptional empathy and inclusivity by considering diverse backgrounds, experiences, and content familiarity. Your approach enhanced learner engagement and underscored your commitment to creating a supportive and impactful learning experience for all."
In this course, I designed an inclusive e-learning project for adult learners, simulating a real-world scenario where tech start-up employees collaborated on a new brand identity. I showcased competencies in creating engaging tasks, integrating interactive elements, and personalized pathways. This project demonstrated my ability to foster motivation, align assessments with goals, and ensure inclusivity while incorporating Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to support diverse learners.
“The submission outlining an adult collaborative e-learning experience where employees at a technology start-up company work to create a prominent brand was a pleasure to evaluate. Each section was detailed, with highlights including a reflection of how the Universal Design for Learning principles of multiple means of engagement, representation, action, and expression are considered with resources, collaboration activities, and reflecting on strengths. Excellent job!”
